What and Why

The ‘Tinkering’ concept for school going children is finally here in India!

Tinkering is to education as experimenting is to inventions. If you have never heard of it then you are not alone. In India we are so focused on academics that we don’t look at ‘education’ enough.

We (schools, teachers, parents and everybody else) should start looking at education much more seriously, by making it much less serious for students.

Setting up a Tinkering Lab in schools is the best way forward. What they learn through tinkering may or may not help them in scoring better in their exams, but it will develop the incredibly important life skills of creativity, problem solving, comfort with tools and technology, and being self-reliant. How we adults have lived our lives without some or all of these skills is amazing! Isn’t it? However, kids of today have a much better chance to have these skills. Tinkering develops these skills, without question.
